Habari House Open Mic Nights — Edition 3

Something is growing here.

What began as a small idea between friends is slowly becoming a real home for expression in Zanzibar — a space where people can test new material, sing unfinished songs, read poetry they have never shared out loud, experiment, connect, and simply be heard without judgment.

Edition 2 reminded us exactly why this matters.

We witnessed new voices step onto the mic for the first time. Familiar faces returned with new work. Musicians, poets, storytellers and performers transformed the room once again into something intimate, honest, emotional and alive. Special gratitude to Tryphone for joining us and performing a beautiful original piece for the community.

Now we move into Edition 3 — and this one will be even bigger.

We are expanding the experience with more microphones, new instruments, and new members joining the Habari House team to help shape the atmosphere and energy of the night. We are deeply grateful for the growing community of artists and supporters who continue to trust this space and make it what it is becoming.

Habari House Open Mic Nights is not about perfection. It is not about performance culture, competition, or commercial expectations.

It is becoming a place where artists can try something new before the world hears it. A place where someone can read the deepest or darkest poem they have been hiding. A place where musicians can experiment safely. A place where audiences can come alone and leave inspired, connected, and reminded that Zanzibar is full of extraordinary talent.

Whether you are a seasoned performer or stepping onto a microphone for the first time, you are welcome here.
